Art Thomas Open information

The 2011 Art Thomas Big Red Open will be held on Friday, August 5.  This will be the 21st annual Big Red tournament and we want to thank all of you for your continued support over the years.  We believe this to be the largest high school alumni type golf outing in the U.S. and it could not survive without the continued support of the old timers along with the influx of younger players.  Thank you!

This year, we are excited to begin an affiliation with the Plymouth Alumni Association.  The Plymouth Alumni Association began its existence last summer.  The mission is to provide a means for PHS alumni to network and interact via social networking, to provide assistance to those holding class reunions, and to financially support extracurricular activities and other initiatives of the school corporation.  You can sign up to become a member by hitting the PayPal option to your right.  We encourage you to visit the website and to join YOUR alumni association.

Over the years, the ATBRO committee has struggled with the length of play (nearly 7 hours) that has been a deterrent to some people playing in the tournament.  For that reason, we are offering another option for those who would like to participate without spending 7 hours on the course.  This year, we will hold the 18 hole tournament the same as all prior years:  5 or 6 man teams, tee off at 11AM, lunch as you make the turn, beverages on the course, 2 teams playing together, dinner following the round, gifts/prizes/etc.  The cost will be $85 per person.

This year, we are adding an option to play in a 9 hole event.  Those choosing to participate in the 9 hole tournament will tee off around 2:30 – 3:00PM and have all the same benefits as the 18 hole players except for lunch.  The fee will be $55 per person for this option.

For both tournaments, we will need your registration turned in by NO LATER THAN JULY 29th, or you risk not having carts available for your group.

As part of our relationship with the Plymouth Alumni Association, we will be “rebating” $10 to each player who is a member of the PAA and has paid their entry fee in advance.  Those who choose to sign up for the PAA as new members on the day of the event (annual dues are $20) will also get a $10 rebate assuming they paid their entry fee in advance.  All rebates will be handled at the event; everyone needs to pay at the $85/$55 rates.

Anyone not paying their registration fee in advance will be charged an additional $5 at the registration table ($90 or $60 accordingly).

PLEASE PAY THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT ON THE REGISTRATION FORM SO THAT WE CAN SCHEDULE YOU IN THE PROPER TOURNAMENT (9 or 18 hole). You can have a registration form sent to you by return email by contacting plymouthschoolsalumni@gmail.com or pick one up at The Pilot News.

As always, dinner will be served in the pavilion after you finish your round and prizes will be awarded shortly thereafter.

Thanks again for all your support over the years and we look forward to seeing you at the Plymouth Country Club on August 5th.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  You can either email me at grenz@hoosierdriving.com or call me on my cell 574-286-4253.

Please mail all entry forms to: Art Thomas Big Red Open, P O Box 105, Plymouth, IN 46563.
